About Camp Varsity | Camp Culture
The Camp Varsity summer program is a rustic, overnight summer camp serving youth ages 8-15 and encourages “back to play and back to nature” in a fun, un-plugged environment. Our summer program typically runs from late June – early August and most of our days are spent fully outdoors. We are located at the base of Shenandoah National Park in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Camp Varsity values and respects Staff and campers from all backgrounds and walks of life.
Camp is a place for exploration and play, where kids gain self-esteem, forge new friendships, and work cooperatively. Staff are supported and encouraged to help facilitate an experience that is positive and fun, while sharpening their skills as a youth mentor and learning new skills. Our Camp Staff are fun, hands on, attentive, dedicated, creative, caring, honest and transparent, and collaborative. Caring for the Earth is also an important part of our mission and is a part of the decision-making at our Camp: from composting our kitchen scraps, partnering with local farmers to collect our food waste after meals, recycling, growing kitchen herbs and a Camp garden utilizing earth-friendly growing methods.
Camp Varsity is a smoke-tobacco-drug and alcohol-free business operation.
