Realty Income is looking for a Macroeconomic Data Science Intern to join our in-house Predictive Analytics team for the summer of 2026. In this role, you will support the Predictive Analytics team in building machine learning models and conducting macroeconomic analysis to understand how economic events and sector rotations impact our business. This role combines technical data processing and model development with strategic economic research, offering exposure to both the technical and business intelligence aspects of data science in a dynamic market environment.
What You Will Be Working On:
- Machine Learning Model Development: Design, build, and validate predictive models using Python and ML frameworks, focusing on both traditional statistical models and advanced machine learning algorithms to forecast economic trends and their business impacts.
- Macroeconomic Research & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of macroeconomic indicators and their correlations with sector performance, tracking how policy changes, geopolitical events, and market cycles influence sector rotations and business outcomes.
- Sector Rotation & Market Intelligence: Develop systematic approaches to monitor and analyze sector rotation patterns, identifying leading and lagging economic indicators that signal shifts in market dynamics and their potential impact on company performance and strategic positioning.
- Data Visualization & Reporting: Create interactive dashboards and comprehensive reports to communicate complex economic trends, model results, and actionable insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Feature Engineering & Model Optimization: Build reusable data features and model components that can be applied across different economic analysis projects, continuously monitoring model performance and implementing improvements to enhance predictive accuracy.
- Data Quality & Documentation: Ensure data integrity through robust validation processes, maintain comprehensive documentation of economic data sources, methodologies, and model assumptions to support reproducible research and compliance requirements.
- Research & Innovation: Stay current with economic research, market trends, and emerging data science techniques, contributing to the development of new analytical approaches for understanding macro-business relationships.
What You Need to Be Successful:
We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong analytical background to join our Predictive Analytics and Insights team with a focus on building advanced analytics platforms and conducting macroeconomic research. Candidates are currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Machine Learning, or related field.
- Economic & Market Knowledge: Interest in or knowledge of macroeconomics, financial markets, and sector analysis (preferred but not required – willingness to learn is essential).
- Technical Programming Skills: Solid foundation and programming experience in Python, SQL, and experience with distributed computing frameworks like Spark.
- Machine Learning & Data Analysis: Practical experience with core ML and data libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, and PySpark, along with statistical analysis and modeling techniques.
- Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as Azure or AWS for data processing and model deployment.
- Analytical Thinking: Critical thinker with the ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources and conceptualize data-driven solutions.
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

The hourly compensation for this role is in the range of $21.00 – $25.00. Hourly rate determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, knowledge, education, and abilities.
