Canaccord Genuity LLC IT is offering an exciting opportunity for hands-on IT operational experience in a fast-paced financial services environment. This internship is ideal for students with a passion for customer service and technology. IT operations is at the intersection of all IT disciplines. Whether you are interested in development, cybersecurity, networking, or project management, this is an opportunity to see how these areas of study are applied in a business environment.
Interns will experience the culture of Canaccord Genuity by performing work similar to the tasks of a Helpdesk Analyst, playing an integral role in supporting the US employee population. Interns enjoy considerable responsibility throughout the program, with the opportunity to learn several platforms and operating procedures.
This internship will provide hands-on experience in the following IT disciplines:
- Helpdesk
- Desktop Support
- Cybersecurity
- Agile project concepts
- Inventory Management
To gain this experience, the Intern will handle a full range of support and projects, which may include the following (as circumstances permit):
- Provide in office support for all IT equipment (e.g. computers, peripheral devices, and software)
- Experience with several IT platforms (e.g. Active Directory, Azure, Intune, Autopilot and others)
- Setup and configure video conferencing and client presentations
- Setup and troubleshoot mobile devices
- Support employees and respond to all incidents in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner
- Triage and document incoming IT requests
- Responsible for the installation of Operating System and Antivirus updates as necessary
- Move, add, and change all technology associated with the computing environment
- Create and update documentation including incidents, requests, and knowledge base articles
- Manage IT inventory including all equipment, licenses, service agreements, and support contracts
- Assist with Cybersecurity Remediation (patch management, virusmalware remediation, Incident Escalation, Network and System Testing
- Assist in deployment of new technologies and other related tasks
- Provide training on an as-needed basis to employees
- Participate in IT Department meetings
- Perform all functions as assigned by management
Projects and Special Assignments
- Inventory Project: E-waste and data loss prevention preparation
- Third-party Risk Management Project: Security questionnaire database
- Cybersecurity Training Follow-ups
Preferred background
- Rising senior undergraduate with an expected graduation date prior to July 2026
- Majors in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
- Interest in or exposure to coursework in areas of IT
